Scotty's Castle This castle began its construction in 1924. Walter Scott, a publicity seeker, convinced an insurance millionaire from Chicago to invest in his venture, but ended up building an elaborate winter vacation home. Well the house was never completed and over $2.5 million was spent on it. Scotty’s Castle is now a museum and is as exquisite now as it was in the 1920’s. All the original furnishings and clothing still remain there. Guided tours run all day, but the wait is usually an hour, so get there early and enjoy the grounds. |
