Stuff: I visted MarineLand as a 19 year old friend of some people I was with from Rolling Hills, Cal. It was awesome. Now that I have my own kids, I wanted to visit the San Diego Zoo as well as Marine Land. Sorry to know that it is not running. Vancouver's Marine Land is also not running with the orcas. I thought we shipped our whales to San Diego last year? Bye now

Stuff: I am reading Marineland Diver by Jake Jacobs. The book was resuced from the discard pile. I leived in Torrance during those years. I remember the thrill of going to marineland. I took my wife there once. I have a picture of her pointing to a Garibaldi. A neighborhood friend became a performer when Irwin Allen put on a song and dance show there. I remember catching the act. Unfortunately the dancer, Albert "Sparky" Sparks was an early AIDS victim. I am reminded of P.O.P. too. (Pacific Ocean Park) in Santa Monica.

Stuff: My father was William F. Monahan. He was president of Marineland from 1954 when it opened until 1971. I have too many photos, stories and priceless memorabilia to ever attach by e-mail. I would LOVE to share any memories My sisters and I have of the many many celebrity gatherings at marineland and also our home in Palos Verdes Estates. Please contact me by phone if you like. I have hundreds of unbelievable photos from the earliest days of Maineland. My Dad was paramount in bringing Marineland into the spotlight. Prior to his involvement the park was merely a research facility to study oceanography.

Stuff: We lived in Torrance in the 60's and I visited Marineland often as a child. I remember an episode of The Lucy Show was shot there. The last time I saw a rerun of that show it brought back good memories of the park. I can still remember sitting in the hot sun in the arenas watching the animal shows. We still drive by the outside of the park occasionally.
