Stuff: The movie that was being filmed when that flyover picture of Marineland was made was "Pirates of the Caribbean". They mention that the filming was there on the DVD. http://www.californiacoastline.org/cgi-bin/image.cgi?image=8385&mode=sequential&flags=0

Stuff: I started out working as the bus boy-kitchen helper in the Marine Restaurant then I was moved up the park to work in the fast food eateries - after about 6 months I was lucky in getting to work in the custodian dept. I went in at 4:30 to vacuum the rugs in the killer whale building everyday. It was alittle creepy at times because everytime you looked over at the whale tank they would be there looking back at you. I also worked for Doug Duncan the glass blower on the side. It was a great place to work - alot of fun - and a great group of kids to be apart of it with. rob.

Stuff: Hi, I am completing research for an article on Marineland and also in the process for our book 'Theme Parks of Southern California'. I am interested in interviewing, talking to or, otherwise, hearing from anyone who has any information about the park. Verified (and useful) information will be given credit in out publication, if desired. Thanks for your help and thanks for keeping the spirit of Marineland going. Larry Boone

Stuff: Sorry to tell you but I wasn't anything to Marineland but I do know about Orky and Corky. When SeaWorld bought them out in 1987 or 1988 both whales were sent to SeaWorld. During his time at SeaWorld Orky fathered 2 or 3 calves. Sadly he died 3 days after his daughters birth. Corky was involved in some incidents as well. An older female, known as Kandu V came out of the back pool during a show and rammed Corky. Kandu V died 20 minutes later leaving Orky's daughter orphaned. This happneded in 1989. Corky is still living at SeaWorld and has foster mothered 2 calves.
